High school and collegiate wrestling is an immensely popular sport, and seems to gain in popularity more each year. Wrestlers are often considered to be the most elite of all high school athletes because of the strength, balance and dedication to the sport that is required to become a star.
These athletes must carefully watch their weight all the time to make sure that they stay in their weight class. This can easily lead to eating disorders, especially bulimia, but that’s not all that can happen. Recent studies have also found that when these athletes lose the necessary weight rapidly, it can cause them to become confused very easily. While there haven’t been further studies to determine if any permanent brain damage occurs during this time, those studies should be announced shortly.
