To Call or Not To Call, Online Dating Dating

So now that you have had your first date and you are officially online dating dating, the next obvious question is when you can call. There are do’s and don’ts to the post date calling which include, don’t call immediately afterwards unless necessary.
Online dating dating isn’t that much different than regular dating, it’s just the way that you meet the person that is different. That means you have to be nice, courteous and cool when you meet your date in real life. So the same rules apply at the end of the date you met online or anywhere else.
If you want to be sure they got home safe make it short and sweet. You also do not want to go too long before your next communication. As a matter of fact the recommended time is 48 hours post date. During this conversation you can thank them for a nice time and leave the option open to them for another date in the future. These days text messaging will also play a big role in your communication; however, it is wise to stay away from sending texts at first because they can easily be misread.
Although sending texts can be fun and flirty you do not want to risk a misunderstanding. Make sure you don’t wait around. The call will come when it comes, if it comes. If you pick up on the very first ring this may appear as desperate. We are all very busy so go about your day and if they call, they call. Lastly, if you’re not interested in pursuing another date, let that person know and let them down gently. This can be done over the phone but be kind about it. Don’t simply ignore phone calls. We are human beings with feelings. Use your discretion when calling and how often.
