Do you eat healthy food? Go exercise everyday? Don’t Drink or smoke? If you answer yes to one f these questions, then you are still vulnerable to cancer.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the purveyor of the importance of healthy lifestyle, went in for a routine colonoscopy after his 50th birthday in June and got quite a scare of the result of the examination. During the medical examination, his doctor found a precancerous growth, an adenomatous polyp, inside his intestine. If this polyp had gone undetected, the polyp may have progressed into colon cancer. Dr’s removed the polyp, but still remains at a high risk of colon cancer. Dr. Oz will have to have a follow-up examination in three months, with continuing exams every 5 years.

“This was a shakeup for me. I have done everything right, I don’t have any family history, and yet I’m high risk now,” Oz tells People Magazine.

“There’s a lot of tension,” the 50-years old Doctor added. “It’s frustrating. Why did this happen to me? It forces you to question the assumptions you make about life.”

He adds that the colonoscopy exam “saved my life.” Dr. Oz will be discussing his cancer scare on The Dr. Oz Show in September 7 season premiere.
