After almost 40 ears of successful big-screen career, the 63-year-old Hollywood superstar says that his latest film The Expendables may well be his last offering to his fans around the world.
Sylvester Stallone is one of the most recognizable faces in the movie world. Stallone was best-known for his blockbuster movies such as Rocky and Rambo. Also, he is one of Tinseltown’s best-loved and most successful movie stars.
But recently he admitted that it might soon be time for him to give up acting in films for good.
“I’m on borrowed time,” he explains. “At this age I hear the ticking clock and it’s as loud as the gong on Big Ben.”
If his latest project, The Expendables, will be his last film role then Sylvester, who is married to third wife, former model Jennifer Flavin, will certainly be going out with a bang. The much anticipated explosive action movie will be out this summer. The synopsis of the film is like Stallone was leading a gang of veteran mercenaries on a deadly mission. His fellow ageing action superstars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, 62, Bruce Willis, 55, and Mickey Rourke, 57 will have a special appearance in the film.
So will Sylvester sit back on his laurels and enjoy a quiet retirement? Of course not – he will be working to carve out a career in directing instead.
Stallone is planning to direct films after his acting retirement like his fellow Hollywood veteran, Clint Eastwood.
“The ultimate ambition is to follow in Clint Eastwood’s footsteps and move on to directing films without me having to be in them,” he said at the Los Angeles Film Festival where he received a special award for his film career.
“I’m on borrowed time and know my longevity will be predicated on being able to make that move.”
