Steven Tyler, the lead singer of the phenomenal American rock band Aerosmith, and actress/singer/fashion designer Jennifer Lopez will join Randy Jackson as the new “American Idol” judges. The two well-known and highly calibrated artists will fill in the empty seats left by the former judges in the coming 10th season of American Idol.
The announcement was headed by the host Ryan Seacrest during a press conference in Los Angeles.
Jennifer Lopez, 41-years old, announced her own reason for taking the reins of judgment, “I’m looking for the next Michael Jackson. We’re looking for the best American Idol ever. I’m so excited, I really am!”
Steven Tyler, 60-years old, said that he is aiming “give everybody a little love before I decide who goes home heartbroken” and offered some words of wisdom to aspiring contestants.
“If you don’t like what I say, don’t get mad, get better,” he said. “I’m ready to bring some rock to this ‘roller’ coaster and show these kids if they have the dream, the talent and the drive, they will be the next American Idol.” And when asked why he chose to accept the offer, Tyler responded “I want to bring some rock to this roller-coaster.”
Randy Jackson is the only original American Idol judge left on the idol judge’s panel following the departure of Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, and Ellen DeGeneres.
“I can’t believe it’s been ten years of the greatest show in the world,” said Jackson. “I am looking forward to this next season; we are going to knock it out of the park. Season ten is going to be hot!”
The networks decision to hire Lopez and Tyler is to rejuvenate the decade old show despite how popular it has remained over the years.
