Solar Decathlon and the Future of American Homes

Solar EnergySolar Decathlon and the Future of American Homes

Where will home designs that incorporate clean solar energy and affordable housing for future generations come from? Most likely they will be found from the minds of those creating models of these homes for the Solar Energy Decathlon.

The Solar Decathlon is a competition where college students from all over the word create functional solar powered model homes that actually look like a house someone would want to live in. This is the fifth year for the competition and already 70 or more of these solar functioning homes exist as residences or for educational purposes.

If you have even a fringe interest in solar power then take a look at the Solar Decathlon website at http://www.solardecathlon.gov/. Twenty university led teams will compete in the Decathlon 16 are US and 4 international. The international teams are from New Zealand, Belgium, China and Canada.
