Spring has finally arrived in New Hampshire and the sap has once again started to flow. Sugar houses all over the state have been running full steam, tapping trees and turning the sap in to tasty maple syrup. People have been flocking to the sugar houses to sample one of New Hampshire’s best loved products.
Many sugaring houses offer tours of their facilities to the general public. Along with the education, some houses provide hot cider, donuts, breakfast, and tons of maple syrup laden goodies. Be sure to call ahead for tour times and reserve your spot if it’s required.
While maple syrup can be purchased any time of the year, nothing beats fresh syrup from the sugaring houses. Seeing the entire process in action is also a great way to welcome in Spring. Although the maple syrup season started in late February, it will end around late April.
