The time for new online dating sites may have already passed. Daters are already either using a pay service like Match.com or using established free online dating sites like OKCupid or Social Connect.
The reason that upstart free online dating sites may find trouble in securing members is simply a matter of trust. Daters are already leery of the words free online dating simply because there are so many turnkey dating operations on the internet.
Years of clicking on a supposed free online dating site and then only after a few minutes being told that there is a subscription has turned a lot of daters off to free online dating altogether. Established brands however are able to build off of their reputation and the trust they have built in the community.
