Another significant development, which the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) disclosed in the East Coast Gaming Congress, is the appointment of Mario Galea, who is also the recently appointed Chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) of Malta.
Mario Galea’s background includes being the first CEO of the LGA-Malta from 2004 to 2008, to which his main contribution is the introduction of the regulations governing many of the licensed online gambling sites operating globally today. This very qualification perfectly meets, one of NJDGE’s selection criteria, which is that of a well-rounded individual who is well versed and very much acquainted with the gaming regulations imposed by European jurisdictions.
The LGA Chairman is also an IT consultant by profession, which he furthered by forming his own consulting firm, Random Consulting Group. His company caters mostly to online casinos by providing services that include website development, instituting systems for handling customer services, back office transactions, and overall management of Internet-based casinos.
His extensive background in online gambling operations therefore, renders him fully capable in determining if NJ’s draft of gaming regulations has any loopholes or is in need of further adjustments. LGA Chairman Galea can very well assess if the feedback and suggestions received from the gaming industry and from other jurisdictions are reasonable and/or feasible.
As gambling consultant, Chairman Galea’s advice and guidance covers the preliminary stage, as well as the testing and implementation processes before and after the gaming site goes live. The NJDGE will also seek his advice concerning any policy, process, or technology, as part of the regulatory body’s maintenance procedures.
