Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel enhanced actress Lindsay Lohan’s bail to $200,000 after her alcohol monitoring anklet recorded a violation. The decision to double the bail amount was taken following a two-hour closed-door proceeding involving a prosecutor and Lohan’s attorney.
Shiara Davila-Morales, spokeswoman of District Attorney confirmed the ‘alcohol-related violation.’ Authorities declined to divulge any further detail. A source close to the actress revealed that the violation relates to MTV Movie Awards ceremony on Sunday. She is reported to have attended an after-show party of the award ceremony.
Shawn Chapman Holley, the actress’s attorney said, the alcohol monitoring anklet indicated ‘a small amount of alcohol’. Meanwhile, Lohan denied the violation in her messages on Twitter account.
The actress had been granted probation in 2007 after she pleaded guilty to the charges of drug abuse and reckless driving. Her probation was extended by one year in October as she failed to complete the previous term satisfactorily. She was ordered to wear the alcohol monitoring anklet after she skipped a court hearing in May. Her bail amount was set at $100,000 on that occasion.
Lohan has violated the probation terms on three occasions, inviting strict admonishments of the court. On two previous occasions violations were explained as misunderstandings. On one occasion it was explained as busy work schedule. Her next hearing and appearance at court is scheduled on July 6. She faces a jail term if it is found that she has violated her probation.
