The 24-year-old “Paparazzi and Poker Face” hit maker dethroned the American pop star Britney Spears as the “queen of twitter”. Lady Gaga’s follower surpasses Spears’ by approximately 34,000 followers (still counting). Gaga has a staggering 5,751,146 followers compared to o 5,701,236.

The newly crowned Tweeter Queen celebrated her historic achievement with an amusing YouTube clip “sent while changing backstage at The Monster Ball in Tacoma” to thank her fans or her “little monsters” for making her the most popular person on the micro-blogging site.

“Hello world, this is Lady Gaga, queen of twitter. I wanted to thank all my beautiful little monsters for following me. Thank you for beginning my reign as twitter queen. I vow to always tweet and tweet again.”

According to website famecount.com, the American singer-composer Gaga currently picks up new followers on twitter at an average of around 171,000 a week.

However, her top rival in popularity, both in YouTube and Twitter, Justin Bieber holds the title of fastest growing averaging more than 800,000 new followers each month.

Other popular celebrities in Twitter include actor-producer and fashion model Ashton Kutcher and American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift.
