Now that spring is here, more families are taking advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy time at the park and the beach. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children wants to remind parents that now is the time to keep the closest eye on your children. Parks and beaches will become more and more crowded as the weather improves, and this can make it more difficult to watch your own child, and allows for many more potential victims for kidnappers and child molesters. If you have a neighborhood watch, now would be a good time to look over the child safety network within the structure of the child safety program of the watch. Make certain that everyone in the neighborhood keeps an eye out for suspicious behavior and keep track of where the kids are headed.
This doesn’t mean that you need to hold your child’s hand every second, just make sure they are always in your sight, and be aware of your surroundings. If there is someone that looks out of place, or something just doesn’t seem right about them, get a good mental picture of that person, or better yet, one on your cell phone. If they are really rubbing you the wrong way, let a member of law enforcement know.
