Starting August 18 the Droid Incredible users will now experience the new Android 2.2 (Froyo). The HTC’s update is now polished to where it’s “ready for primetime,” and a reliable source of Mashable said Verizon team members already have Froyo installed on thei device. However, the source didn’t mention if the update would add a mobile hotspot feature or a 720p video.
Froyo is primarily a speed update and improves over its predecessors OS; the device camera app and the web. Android 2.2 brings the framework for Flash 10.1, as well as installing apps to the SD card and Bluetooth voice dialing.
The Droid X is scheduled to get updated soon and, however, the Droid 2 already has the new OS since its release. Most of U.S Android phones already have their Android 2.2 updates, such as the HTC Evo 4G of Sprint and the original Droid. Additionally, a new cloud sync functionality into Android 2.2.
Also, a few other smartphones, such as the Dell Streak, Motorola Droid X, HTC MyTouch 3G Slide and Samsung Captivate have all had 2.2 promised but with no set timetable.
