Do Genes Predispose Kids to Athletics?

Genetic TestingFor many years the world has seen father and son pairs that are both successful at sports, usually the same one. While some people believe it is because the parent would instill similar values and lessons of athleticism in their child, others believe it is hereditary. With genetics testing improving every day, it may be a possibility to test for the ‘sports gene’.

A certain company that produces genetic tests is claiming there is a sports gene that would show whether kids will be successful in sports. Scientists have reported the discovery of different genes that point to strength, speed and general athletic performance.

That being said, many doctors believe that these tests are overpriced and may stop some children from picking sports they are interested in. Since the culture has become so obsessed with success and winning, these tests seem to be targeted to parents who instill this mindset into their children.
