The Nintendo DSi, “the best-selling in the history of the U.S. and worldwide” which features a pair of cameras and access to downloadable games, will be available for $149.99. The DSi XL a pair of considerably larger screens, will be available for $169.99.
The Nintendo DSi and DSi XL currently sell for $170 and $190 respectively and the earlier model DS Lite, somewhat less appealing, will continue to sell for $129.99.
The company claims the DSi and DSi XL “offer consumers access to more than 1,300 packaged games and more than 200 downloadable games.”
Nintendo DS have proven quite strong in tough game console competition. According to the NPD Group, the company successfully marketed its DS family of portable video game systems and it sold more than 42.3 million in the U.S. through the end of July.
Last June, Nintendo announced they will release a 3D version of the device, called the Nintendo 3DS, which will feature the technology without the use of glasses.
