Caesars-888’s poker website World Series of Poker (WSOP) is set to launch real money online poker games on a yet unspecified date this summer. The people behind WSOP aim to launch their poker gaming software, before the July 06 main event of the WSOP tournament. The latter is set to start on May 29 at Caesars’ Rio Casino and Resort in Las Vegas.
Their plan is to run the tournament series online during the WSOP festivities, as this will give Nevada’s online poker players and other WSOP.com visitors a chance to win seats in the tournament stops, and in the National Championship as well; and perhaps, become this year’s World Series winner.
However, all these remain as plans until the Nevada Gaming Control Board grants Caesar-888 final approval of their license to operate their online gaming venture in Nevada, before the said target date.
Recall that early last month, the WSOP website invited Nevada poker players to participate in the beta-testing of 888’s poker software, in order to gather feedback about any issues encountered during actual play. Doing so will help the developers at 888 pinpoint and eliminate the possible problem spots and improve the downloadable software, before offering the games to future real-money online poker players.
Albeit playing for play money, the participating Nevada beta-testers of 888’s poker platform reap some form of rewards in return, which could be anything from avatars to freerolls. Still, winning a free entry to the highly esteemed and in some cases, pricey World Series of Poker tournament, is of course, not far from their minds.
