Recent studies have shown that more people have shopped at Apple’s retail stores and online than have attended Major League Baseball games during the 2010 series. This lead to some people believing that Apple and the many products that they sell have now outranked baseball as America’s most popular pastime.
While spending at Apple stores alone beat out the revenue of MLB games, that’s not all. Apple also marks down how many visitors come into their stores every year, and that number was significantly higher than the attendance of games.
Many people argue that comparing these two things is like comparing apples to oranges; they are in two completely different fields. Apple is a retail business venture, while baseball falls into a sports and entertainment category.
