Airlines and Checked Baggage Fees

airlinesOne of the common trends for airlines across the board is the increase in fees from number of bags to the fees associated with overweight baggage. In hopes of avoiding extra fees more and more passengers are trying to fit all their luggage as a carry on. Southwest has been one of the only airlines that has yet to impose fees on checked baggage, allowing each passenger to have two check bags at no cost.

The airline has been doing very well in the downed travel industry as they choose to keep their discounts while other competitors continue to increase fees as well as general ticket costs. It is hoped that as the general economy improves, the ability for people to travel will again increase driving up the demand for airline travel and therefore hopefully lowering the airline fees as they are once again making enough money to cover their costs.
